The Anesthesia Technician I
Education: High School diploma / GED. Prefer candidates with certified nursing assistant, medical assistant, emergency medical technician, or other healthcare education.
Experience: 1 year direct patient healthcare experience and completion of Carilion Anesthesia Tech I competencies required.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: None required. Life Support: Must successfully complete AHA BLS-HCP within 2 months of hire and maintain throughout employment.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, critical thinking skills, communication and team working skills required. Must meet all level I competencies within 6 weeks of hire/start. Must be able to fulfill fundamental components/essential elements of position. Basic computer skills. Ethical and legal issues and responsibilities. Biologic hazards, infection control, and standard precautions. Assists the licensed anesthesia provider and other ORS staff with direct patient care in clinical settings. Communicates with physicians, nurse anesthetists RN's and other departmental staff written and orally in an effective respective manner. Providing peri-operative technical support to the anesthesia professional and other departmental staff staff in the delivery of patient care. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development and anatomy and physiology as it applies to anesthesia care.
