    Job Description

    Anesthesiologist

Patients trust you with the minutes that decide whether surgery is safe, calm, and complete. This role exists to protect that trust: deliver precise anesthesia, anticipate risk before it becomes crisis, and keep the perioperative team moving with confidence. Success is measured in stable patients, clean handoffs, and operating rooms that start and finish ready for the next case.

    Performance Objectives

    • Conduct pre-anesthesia evaluations and risk plans so high-risk patients arrive in the OR with a documented, executable anesthetic strategy.
    • Deliver anesthesia for scheduled and urgent cases with stable hemodynamics, appropriate depth, and recovery criteria met before PACU transfer.
    • Lead airway, resuscitation, and crisis response so deterioration is recognized early and treated to protocol.
    • Complete accurate intraoperative records and structured handoffs that give PACU and surgical teams everything needed to continue care without rework.
    • Reduce first-case delays and turnover friction by confirming readiness, communicating blockers early, and aligning with surgery and nursing.
    • Apply multimodal analgesia and regional techniques, when indicated, to improve comfort and support same-day discharge or timely floor transfer.
    • Uphold sterile practice, medication safety, and documentation standards with zero unreconciled controlled-substance discrepancies.

    Environment & Resources

You will practice in a hospital perioperative service alongside surgeons, CRNAs or anesthetists where used, nurses, and pharmacy. Modern anesthesia workstations, electronic records, and standard emergency equipment are in place. You report to the anesthesia medical director or chief of service, with case support from the OR charge team. Block time, call expectations, and clinical protocols are defined before start.

    Essential Qualifications

    • M.D. or D.O. with completion of an ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency.
    • Board certification or active board eligibility in anesthesiology, plus an unrestricted state medical license and DEA registration.
    • Current ACLS; PALS if pediatric cases are in scope.
    • Demonstrated independent management of general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care across ASA physical status ranges typical of the service.
    • Proven ability to run a safe room: airway rescue, hemodynamic rescue, and clear closed-loop communication under time pressure.
    • Eligibility for hospital credentialing and, where required, malpractice coverage through the facility or an approved carrier.

    Role Selling Points

    • Clinical scope with real decision authority, not a checklist-only assignment.
    • Defined call and block structure so you can plan a sustainable practice.
    • A team that values on-time starts and safe slowdowns equally.
    • Placement support that stays with you through credentialing, not just the offer.
    • A practice setting where perioperative outcomes, not volume slogans, define success.

    Call to Action

If you want your next cases judged by patient safety and team reliability, apply with your CV, license status, and availability. We will respond with scope, call, and credentialing steps—no vague promises.
