    Do you have a passion for wildlife and exceptional organizational skills? Essex County Turtle Back Zoo is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Animal Care Administrator to provide crucial administrative support to our Curators, Zoo Registrar, and Veterinary team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our diverse animal collection and enhance the guest experience at our renowned institution.

    As our Part-Time Animal Care Administrator, you will play a vital role in the smooth operation of our animal care programs. You will maintain our Conservation Headquarters, ensuring a well-organized and efficient environment. You will assist with administrative tasks related to animal records, management and conservation initiatives. In addition, you will help facilitate a seamless viewing opportunity at our new Animal Wellness Center, where guests can observe veterinary care in action. Your dedication to working seamlessly with our education and veterinary teams to provide an outstanding guest experience will be essential in this visible role.

    Responsibilities:

    \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t

    \t\t\t\t\t\t

    • Provide comprehensive administrative support to Zoo Curators, the Registrar, and the Veterinary team. This includes managing correspondence, scheduling appointments, preparing reports, and organizing documents.

    \t\t\t\t\t\t

    • Maintain the organization and functionality of the Conservation Headquarters, ensuring a clean, well-stocked, and efficient workspace. May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs at times.

    \t\t\t\t\t\t

    • Assist the Registrar with tasks related to animal records, including data entry, filing, and report generation, ensuring accuracy and communication between departments.

    \t\t\t\t\t\t

    • Play a key role in the guest experience at the Animal Wellness Center by providing information, directing guests, and ensuring a positive and educational viewing environment during veterinary procedures. Requires knowledge of audio visual and closed-circuit camera equipment.

    \t\t\t\t\t\t

    • Assist with administrative tasks related to accreditation, certification, permitting as well as conservation programs and initiatives, as needed.

    \t\t\t\t\t\t

    • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

    • Perform other administrative duties and special projects as assigned.

    Experience Required

    \t\t\t\t\t

    Qualifications: \t\t\t\t\t•\tHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Associate\s or Bachelor\s degree in a related field (e.g., biology, animal science, business administration) preferred. \t\t\t\t\t•\tProven administrative experience, preferably in an AZA institution, veterinary, or similar environment. \t\t\t\t\t•\tExcellent organizational and time-management skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. \t\t\t\t\t•\tProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). \t\t\t\t\t•\tStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, guests, and external partners. \t\t\t\t\t•\tDemonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. \t\t\t\t\t•\tA genuine interest in and respect for animals and wildlife conservation. \t\t\t\t\t•\tAbility to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. \t\t\t\t\t•\tFlexibility to work up to 30 hours per week, may include some weekends and holidays as needed. \t\t\t\t\t
