JOB SUMMARY

Develop and maintain the current volunteer program, develop, maintain, and update as necessary volunteer records, handbook, job descriptions, training materials, required forms, and coordinate volunteer scheduling.

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Work in this classification requires an individual to be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.   • Prepare departmental and other reports as required.
  • Serve as liaison with community organizations, businesses, and schools.
  • Write and distribute volunteer program newsletter, among other duties.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise shelter volunteer force, including CAVIT students.
  • Develop and maintain volunteer training and program materials and volunteer schedules.
  • Conduct volunteer performance evaluations.
  • Maintain volunteer personnel records.
  • Operate as community liaison and community activities and provision of educational programs.
  • To promote and adhere to the workplace values of accountability, commitment, and teamwork to help enrich lives beyond expectation.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records and restricted County information.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience with animal handling (must be on application).
  • Arizona residents must have an Arizona Driver's License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of basic laws, statutes, and ordinances governing animal control issues.
  • Knowledge of regional animal care resources available to citizens.
  • Skill in exercising patience, care, and compassion in dealing with animals.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is sedentary requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.The work also requires the ability to finger, walk, perform repetitive motion, hear, speak, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a relatively safe, secure, and stable work environment.

The hiring salary for this position is dependent upon experience, qualifications and position funding; starting salaries above the first quartile require additional approval.
