Animal Services Department Behavior Coordinator

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree. One year of dog training experience to include supervisory experience is required. Additional related dog training experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for -year basis. Must obtain the Certified Professional Dog Trainer Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) certification provided by Council for Professional Dog Trainers prior to the completion of the probationary period. Must be able to walk, handle and train energetic dogs, regardless of size and breed.

Recruitment Notes

This position conducts behavior evaluations using Fear Free Shelter guidelines, develops individualized behavior plans for dogs experiencing fear, reactivity, and other behavioral challenges, and monitors behavioral progress. The Behavior Coordinator will also oversee the functions of the Enrichment Team and collaborate across divisions to support enrichment, socialization, playgroups, and placement opportunities through adoption, foster, and rescue programs.
