About the Role:
Nextgen Biologics in Alachua, FL is looking for a passionate and dedicated Animal Care Specialist to join our growing team. Responsibilities:

• Provide daily care, feeding, and husbandry for research animals in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards
• Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns to veterinary or research staff
• Maintain clean, sanitary, and safe animal housing facilities
• Assist research staff with animal handling, sample collection, and study procedures
• Maintain accurate records of animal care activities, treatments, and observations
• Ensure compliance with IACUC, USDA, and AAALAC guidelines and protocols
• Support inventory management of animal care supplies and equipment

Requirements:

• Prior experience in animal care, veterinary technology, or a research animal facility preferred
• Knowledge of laboratory animal husbandry and biosafety procedures
• AALAS certification (ALAT or LAT) is a plus
• Ability to handle, restrain, and care for a variety of animal species safely
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed
• Compassionate, reliable, and team-oriented work ethic
