Overview:
Location: Divisional Headquarters, Advancement Department (Hartford, CT)
Status: Non-exempt, Full-time
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Monday–Friday; 8:00 am–4:00 pm
Scope of Position: Responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating all annual fund strategies and programs for the Southern New England Division, including direct mail. Provide daily oversight of donor database programs. Maintain donor files utilizing database software, process gifts, and donation acknowledgments.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze direct marketing results and work closely with the consultant or vendor to adjust to ensure the desired outcomes.
- Assist in setting goals and writing, reviewing, and editing materials for all annual fund mailings.
- Attend annual fund strategy meetings.
- Coordinate donors who give via credit card with the Finance Department.
- Coordinate staff database training as needed.
- Daily oversight and maintenance of the donor database in cooperation with the mail vendor, THQ, and Advancement staff.
- Ensure the direct marketing program represents the work and fundraising priorities of the Southern New England Division.
- Maintain a filing system, including acknowledgments and other materials as needed for records.
- Oversee all acknowledgments, including memorials, honorariums, and prayer requests.
- Oversee the database management system, ensuring peak efficiency throughout the Advancement Department. This includes gift entry, donor record changes and corrections, and running reports.
- Oversee the integration of the direct mail program and digital appeals.
- Participate in the strategic planning for all divisional-level fundraising programs in concert with the Advancement team.
- Process matching gift forms.
- Provide recommendations as to the solicitation calendar and messaging.
- Work with Advancement staff to prepare mailings, thank you letters, and other special communications related to corporations, foundations, special events, mid- and high-level donors, and William Booth Society members.
- Work to track mail across the Division to ensure no gaps in receiving donation copies.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a college degree is preferred.
- Three years of experience in a fundraising role with a proven record of success.
- Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to participate in and engage in team projects, work independently, and manage multiple projects and conflicting priorities.
- Analytical skills and detail-oriented with keen attention to accuracy.
- Demonstrate discretion, integrity, and confidentiality in dealing with all matters.
- Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Experience in nonprofit fundraising and database systems.
- Experience with donor tracking and database software, Salesforce preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
