COORDINATING CUSTODIAN - ANTICIPATED
REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Director of Facilities
HOURS: 7:00am - 3:00pm
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Black Seal License; high school diploma or equivalent training.
- Minimum experience in plant operation and maintenance; cleaning methods and procedures; repairs; security; heating and ventilation as determined by the Board.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fire/safety laws and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Independent use of word processing, E-Mail, Internet and appropriate software applications is highly desirable.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U. S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

JOB GOAL:
To oversee the custodial operations of individual school facilities and ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable school environment; to carry out administrative tasks required to maintain and operate the school to the required standards.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the school each day.
- Monitors and regulates heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical use of fuel, water, and electricity.
- Plans and oversees all maintenance and repair work in the building.
- Participates in the assignment, and scheduling of the custodial staff.
- Maintains an inventory and recommends purchase of supplies, tools, equipment, and fuel.
- Completes custodial reports, building condition reports and other records as required.
- Conducts periodic inspections of the facility and its systems.
- Ensures that all fire/safety and environmental laws and regulations relating to the plant maintenance and operation are enforced.
- Maintains preventative maintenance logs and other records as required.
- Performs related duties as required for daily operation of the school.
- Operates floor and carpet equipment including vacuums, buffers, burnishers, scrubbing and carpet shampoo machines.
- Responds to special requests from the faculty, such as: the preparation for and removal of equipment for special events, assemblies and programs.
- Performs snow removal, using snow blower and/or snow shovel, from sidewalks and building accesses out to the parking lot and bus drop off points. Applies sand, salt and ice melt.
- Moves furniture, equipment and supplies within the school building and adjacent grounds. Assists in unloading trucks and receiving supplies.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be determined as mutually agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Salary: $40,381 - $60,028 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and in accordance with the VTEA contract salary guide.
