Anticipated Elementary (K-4) Music Teacher

Fairbury Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated music educator to join our team as an (Anticipated) Elementary (K-4) Music Teacher. This full-time position will be located at two elementary schools within the district. The ideal candidate will inspire young learners to explore the world of music, fostering their creativity, collaboration, and appreciation for the arts. The teacher will develop and implement engaging music curricula that align with educational standards, promoting a lifelong love of music in students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum for students in grades K-4, incorporating various musical styles and techniques.

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.

  • Plan and conduct engaging music lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

  • Assess and evaluate student progress in music skills, providing constructive feedback and support.

  • Organize and lead school performances, concerts, and other musical events to showcase student talents.

  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate music into interdisciplinary learning experiences.

  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, including the proper care of musical instruments and resources.

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.

  • Stay current with music education trends and best practices through professional development opportunities.

  • Participate in school and district meetings, committees, and community events to promote the music program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education.

  • Valid Nebraska teaching certification in Elementary Music Education.

  • Experience teaching music to elementary-aged students is preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for working with young children.

  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans and adapt to the diverse needs of students.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and engage with the school community.
