Anticipated Long-Term Substitute in Technical Education

Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our educational team as a leave replacement from November 3, 2026, through December 23, 2026. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English/language arts instruction and a commitment to providing students with engaging, meaningful learning experiences. The successful candidate will create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages students to develop strong reading, writing, speaking, listening, critical-thinking, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging English/language arts lessons aligned with New Jersey Student Learning Standards and student needs.
• Provide instruction in areas such as literature, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, research, and communication, as appropriate to course assignments.
• Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and academic growth.
• Assess student learning through assignments, projects, assessments, and other appropriate measures and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, experiences, and learning styles.
• Incorporate a variety of instructional strategies, technology, texts, and resources to support student learning.
• Foster students' critical-thinking, analytical, creative, and communication skills.
• Establish and maintain clear classroom expectations, routines, and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, assignments, and progress.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities and school and district initiatives.
• Provide appropriate support and accommodations for students in accordance with IEPs, 504 Plans, and other established student support plans.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other school activities as appropriate during the leave replacement period.
• Maintain continuity of instruction and classroom expectations throughout the leave replacement assignment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid New Jersey instructional certificate with the appropriate English endorsement, or eligibility to obtain appropriate New Jersey certification.
• Strong knowledge of English/language arts content, including literature, reading, writing, grammar, and communication.
• Ability to provide engaging, student-centered instruction while maintaining a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and support students.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage classroom responsibilities effectively.
• Familiarity with a variety of instructional methods and the ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community.
• Prior teaching experience is preferred.
