Anticipated Long-Term Substitute in Technical Education

Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our educational team as a leave replacement from October 19, 2026, through November 20, 2026. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and a commitment to providing students with individualized, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences. The successful candidate will create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that addresses the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students while helping them develop the skills necessary for academic and personal success.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging, differentiated instruction aligned with New Jersey Student Learning Standards, students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and individual learning needs.
• Provide specially designed instruction and appropriate academic support based on students' identified needs and goals.
• Implement accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies as outlined in students' IEPs and other applicable support plans.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support students and ensure access to the general education curriculum.
• Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, independence, and academic growth.
• Assess student learning and progress through formal and informal assessments and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, learning styles, and levels of academic and functional performance.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology, resources, and interventions to support student learning.
• Establish and maintain clear classroom expectations, routines, and procedures that promote a safe and productive learning environment.
• Support students in developing academic, social-emotional, organizational, communication, and self-advocacy skills, as appropriate.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, child study team members, and administrators regarding student progress and needs.
• Collaborate with members of the child study team and other school personnel to support students' educational programs and individual needs.
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent/guardian conferences, faculty meetings, professional development, and other school activities as appropriate during the leave replacement period.
• Maintain continuity of instruction, classroom expectations, accommodations, and student supports throughout the leave replacement assignment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid New Jersey instructional certificate with the appropriate Special Education endorsement, or eligibility to obtain appropriate New Jersey certification.
• Strong knowledge of special education practices, differentiated instruction, accommodations, modifications, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
• Knowledge and understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and the provision of specially designed instruction.
• Ability to provide engaging, student-centered instruction while maintaining a positive, structured, and well-managed classroom environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and support students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage classroom responsibilities, student documentation, and IEP-related requirements effectively.
• Familiarity with a variety of instructional methods, interventions, and strategies for supporting diverse learners.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with general education teachers, child study team members, related service providers, administrators, and families.
• Prior experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
