    Emerson Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, collaborative, and student-centered Learning Disabilities Teacher to join our instructional team serving students in Grades 46.

    The successful candidate will provide high-quality, specially designed instruction to students with learning disabilities and other identified educational needs. The teacher will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education staff, related service providers, administrators, paraprofessionals, and families to ensure that students receive appropriate supports, accommodations, modifications, and instructional experiences aligned with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Provide specially designed instruction to students in Grades 46 in accordance with students' IEPs.
    • Develop and implement engaging, differentiated, and evidence-based instructional practices.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive programming and access to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
    • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute meaningful information regarding student progress, strengths, needs, and instructional recommendations.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress and use assessment data to inform instruction.
    • Provide appropriate accommodations and modifications as identified in students' IEPs.
    • Monitor and communicate student progress with families, teachers, administrators, and related service providers.
    • Utilize research-based interventions and instructional strategies to support literacy, mathematics, executive functioning, and other identified areas of need.
    • Establish a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student independence and self-advocacy.
    • Collaborate with colleagues through professional learning communities, grade-level teams, and other district initiatives.
    • Participate in professional development and contribute to the continued development of Emerson Public Schools' instructional programs.
    • Support the district's commitment to "Every Cavo, Every Day" and its mission of creating meaningful learning experiences for every student.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
    • Valid New Jersey instructional certification appropriate for the assignment.
    • Candidates holding an appropriate out-of-state certificate may be considered, subject to New Jersey reciprocity requirements.
    • Experience working with students with learning disabilities and/or students receiving special education services preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction, evidence-based interventions, assessment practices, and IEP implementation.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, organization, and interpersonal skills.
    • Commitment to inclusive education and the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.

    New Jersey currently requires educator certification for professional staff members employed in New Jersey public schools. Candidates should ensure that their certification status is current and appropriate for the assignment.

    Note: Certification requirements are established by the New Jersey Department of Education and are subject to change. Final certification eligibility is determined by the NJDOE.

    Preferred Experience

    • Experience teaching students in Grades 46;
    • Experience implementing IEPs and providing specially designed instruction;
    • Knowledge of structured literacy and evidence-based mathematics interventions;
    • Experience using student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction;
    • Strong collaboration skills with general education teachers and support staff;
    • Experience working within an inclusive or co-teaching model;
    • A commitment to student-centered, strengths-based special education practices.
