Primary Purpose:
Supervises the preparation and serving of appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements. Maintains high standards of control in food production, sanitation, and safety practices. The School Nutrition Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of his/her assigned area. The manager must uphold the policies and standards of the food service department.

Salary Range:
Minimum: $19.11/hour (25-26 salary schedule)
Salary commensurate with related experience.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
High School diploma or GED
Texas Food Handler's Certificate required
Valid Texas Food Manager Certification or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Effective planning and organizational skills
Proficient in multi-tasking
Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and appliances used in food preparation
Knowledgeable in operating efficient, cost effective program
Ability to read and speak English
Ability to direct and manage personnel
Competent skills in basic bookkeeping and mathematics
Demonstrate professional appearance and cleanliness in work habits
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work in cold or below zero environment for short periods of time
Must be able to work in a hot and humid environment
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in school food service or other institutional food service program
