SYSTEMS

ADMINISTRATOR

The

Systems

Administrator

is

responsible

for

the

operation,

integrity,

and

security

of

the

platforms

carrying

the

administrative

and

instructional

work

of

the

Red

Bank

Borough

Public

Schools:

identity,

endpoint

management,

compute,

storage,

data

protection,

and

cybersecurity,

whether

on

premise,

hosted,

or

delivered

as

a

service,

and

the

integrations

between

them.

The

platforms

assigned

to

this

role

are

set

out

in

its

current

work

plan,

maintained

by

the

Director

of

Technology.

Products

and

hosting

models

change,

and

the

responsibilities

below

apply

to

any

platform

so

assigned.

The

Systems

Administrator

is

the

district's

technical

point

of

contact

for

platform

and

infrastructure

matters,

and

works

closely

with

the

Technology

Team

and

Central

Office

to

accomplish

the

goals

outlined

by

the

district.

Reports

to

Director

of

Technology

Identity

and

Access

Administer

the

district's

identity

and

directory

platforms

and

the

authentication

services

built

on

them,

including

single

sign-on,

federation,

and

multifactor

authentication;

Maintain

accounts

on

a

least

privilege

model,

and

operate

the

account

lifecycle

from

provisioning

to

separation

as

authorized

by

the

responsible

offices,

automating

it

where

possible;

and

Review

privileged,

administrative,

and

vendor

access

periodically,

and

maintain

the

records

establishing

who

held

access

to

district

and

student

data.

Endpoint

and

Device

Management

Administer

the

endpoint

management

platforms

for

every

operating

system

family

the

district

deploys,

including

configuration

baselines,

security

configuration,

and

enrollment;

and

Manage

software

and

operating

system

deployment,

patching,

and

version

lifecycle

within

the

district's

licensing

agreements,

report

on

device

compliance,

and

plan

replacement

before

a

platform

leaves

vendor

support.

Platform

Operations,

Protection,

and

Lifecycle

Administer

the

district's

compute,

storage,

and

virtualization

platforms,

deploy

and

maintain

the

applications

they

run,

and

monitor

availability,

capacity,

and

performance;

Build,

operate,

and

audit

the

collection

and

retention

of

system

log

information,

and

administer

the

network

equipment

supporting

district

platform

and

data

infrastructure;

Administer

backup

and

recovery,

verifying

that

backups

complete

and

restore,

exercise

recovery

procedures

for

critical

platforms,

and

maintain

retention

as

dictated

by

policy

and

law;

Propose

and

maintain

standards

for

platform

deployment,

use,

maintenance,

and

decommissioning,

and

maintain

and

document

the

integrations

between

district

platforms,

including

directory

synchronization,

single

sign-on,

and

rostering;

and

Evaluate

and

recommend

platforms,

advise

on

cost,

licensing,

and

support

implications,

and

plan

and

execute

migrations,

including

secure

disposal.

Cybersecurity

and

Cyber

Resilience

Administer

and

monitor

the

district's

cybersecurity

platforms,

and

respond

to

threats

and

incidents

in

a

timely

manner

to

minimize

impact,

treating

identity

as

a

primary

security

surface

and

applying

detection

and

response

to

authentication

and

account

activity;

Conduct

gap

assessments

and

action

plans,

stay

abreast

of

threats

and

propose

and

deploy

new

platforms

as

the

landscape

changes,

support

the

district's

security

awareness

program,

and

report

the

district's

risk

level

to

Director

of

Technology.

Continuity

and

Shared

Coverage

Serve

as

primary

administrator

for

the

platforms

assigned

in

the

work

plan,

and

as

secondary

administrator

for

those

assigned

to

another

team

member;

Maintain

operational

documentation

for

each

platform,

sufficient

for

the

secondary

administrator

to

run

it,

complete

its

annual

cycle,

and

recover

it

unaided;

and

Participate

in

scheduled

knowledge

transfer,

so

that

no

platform

is

known

to

only

one

person.

Professional

Development

and

Other

Maintain

personal

and

professional

technology

skills,

keep

current

with

industry

trends,

and

pursue

relevant

certification;

Provide

technical

guidance

and

training

to

the

technology

team,

and

serve

as

the

internal

escalation

point

for

incidents

involving

those

platforms;

and

Assist

other

personnel

as

required,

including

work

outside

their

skill

set,

and

perform

other

duties

as

assigned.
