What You’ll Do
  • Review and process referrals submitted to Youth Court
  • Conduct preliminary screenings to assess cases involving youth and families
  • Gather and evaluate relevant information to inform court decisions
  • Communicate effectively with affiants, court staff, law enforcement, and community partners
  • Document all contacts, activities, and findings thoroughly and accurately
  • Ensure timely and complete data entry into court systems
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to standardized policies and procedures
  • Participate in training sessions, quality reviews, and ongoing professional development
  • Support the equitable and professional handling of juvenile cases within assigned counties

What You Need
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Counseling, Family Studies, or a related field
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
  • Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple responsibilities across counties

Preferred:
  • Experience in social services, juvenile justice, or court support roles
  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills
  • Ability to establish collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders

About the Assignment
This on-site role supports a critical reform of Mississippi’s Youth Court system. As part of a statewide initiative, Intake Officers serve as an initial point of review for youth referrals, conducting screenings, gathering information, and ensuring accurate documentation to inform court proceedings. This position aids in creating a consistent, efficient process across multiple counties, contributing directly to improved youth justice services.
