Job Title: AOI Operator
Job Description
This role focuses on operating Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment to ensure electronic assemblies meet defined workmanship and quality standards. You will follow established procedures, verify product and process compliance, and support continuous improvement by communicating defects and data integrity issues to the appropriate personnel. The position involves highly repetitive, routine tasks under close supervision and is suitable for individuals starting their career in electronic manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Adhere to all Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) requirements and follow all Moisture Sensitive Device (MSD) handling procedures according to the components' moisture sensitivity levels (MSL).
Verify that products comply with documented workmanship standards as described in work instructions.
Verify process compliance with established AOI programs and ensure that inspection steps follow defined procedures.
Verify the integrity and accuracy of data collected by AOI and related machinery, promptly identifying any discrepancies.
Communicate defects not captured by AOI equipment to the appropriate personnel to support enhancement and optimization of AOI program integrity.
Communicate observed defects and quality issues to assembly operators during AOI program review to support corrective actions and process improvements.
Support and follow all standards and procedures related to the organization's Quality Management Systems, including quality, environmental, health, safety, and security requirements.
Support all corporate and site 6S objectives by maintaining an organized, clean, and safe work area.
Perform all other related duties as assigned, including routine and repetitive inspection tasks and support for one or more product lines.
Essential Skills
Ability to utilize an electronic manufacturing system such as OCuity to perform inspections and record data.
Basic computer proficiency to operate AOI equipment, navigate software interfaces, and enter inspection data accurately.
Knowledge of Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment and standard AOI procedures.
Ability to read and understand wiring schematics and electronic inspection documentation.
Skills in inspection of electronic assemblies, including solder joints and surface mount technology (SMT) components.
Ability to perform basic soldering and surface mount soldering tasks in line with quality standards.
Capability to work on single tasks, procedures, or products with a focus on highly repetitive or routine duties.
Ability to support 1–2 product lines or customers as assigned.
Comfort working under close supervision and following detailed instructions on work tasks.
No prior work experience required; willingness to learn and follow established processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience or training in ESD-safe handling of electronic components.
Experience with quality control or electronic inspection in a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with IPC-DVD-64C Component Identification standards or the ability to successfully pass this requirement.
Familiarity with IPC-A-610 workmanship standards, particularly Modules 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8, or the ability to successfully pass these modules.
Experience working with SMT processes, soldering, and inspection of surface mount components.
Attention to detail and accuracy in identifying defects and documenting findings.
Strong communication skills to effectively report defects and collaborate with assembly operators and quality personnel.

Work Environment
This position is located at a manufacturing site that operates under defined quality, environmental, health, safety, and security standards. The assignment is contract-based at a site scheduled to close in October. You will work in an electronics production environment that emphasizes 6S principles, organization, cleanliness, and safety. The role requires wearing a smock, safety glasses, and ESD straps to protect sensitive electronic components and ensure a safe working area. Work is highly repetitive and routine, with close supervision and detailed work instructions, and involves regular use of AOI equipment, electronic manufacturing systems, and computer-based tools.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
