CNC Swiss Machinist

Setting up and operating CNC Swiss machines.

Note: this a completely new machine to this facility, there are few proven parts that are running on the machines. Of the 32 parts slated to run on this machine, only 2 are currently proven. This role will be tasked with proving out the parts.

Setup times are TBD because parts are new but in general, the goal is to have setups take 1-2 hours.

Equipment: Tsugami B0386-IIII CNC Swiss lathe with Fanuc controls, operating on 6 axes integrated with a bar feeder. There is currently one CNC Swiss machine at this facility.

May also be responsible for an Okuma 2-axis lathe.

Operating 2-3 machines at a time.

Must be able to perform offsets and adjustments for tool wear etc.

All machines read out in G&M code.

Parts: shafts for planetary gears.

Sizes range from 20mm diameters w/ 60mm lengths or up to 67mm diameter w/ 300mm length – and everything in between.

Cycle times: will vary since not all parts are proven out but the parts that are proven out on these machines are currently 3-4 minutes.

Lot sizes: 100 to 2000.

Materials: all bar stock 4120 steel or 4140 steel.

All bar stock that is manually loaded into the bar feeders.

Reference materials: There are no clear set up instructions for work in this area and most work is done to blueprint and general instruction by FTEs. There will also be tool lists and BOMs.

Prints are metric, gauges are metric, and machines read out in metric. Must be proficient with the metric system.

Knowledge of GD&T is VERY beneficial including MMC, LMC, roundness, straightness, circularity, etc.

Quality: inspecting parts to available check sheets which outline the feature, frequency, and tool to use. Will complete in-process and FPI inspections.

Parts cannot be sent to the next operation until the inspections are documented and parts meet requirements. Documentation is done digitally.

Will be required to blow how chips from any holes drilled into the parts.

Tools used: dial indicator, bore gauges, caliper, height stands.

Tolerances: +/- 20 microns (approximately .0008”) on average.

Completing operator-level maintenance (filter checks, changing filters, checking oil levels etc.).

Will be expected to provide mentorship and training to FTEs since this is a new machine to the facility.

$45 Per diem

Hotel Provided, Overtime, Travel Pay- $25 Hour.
