The Director of AP will lead efficient, accurate, and compliant payables and receivables processes to support cash flow and distributor transactions. This role oversees daily operations, manages the team, and drives process improvements, with a preference for experience in wine and spirits imports.

Client Details

My client is an established alcohol distributor supplying a broad portfolio of wine, spirits, and beer to retail and hospitality customers. They partner closely with suppliers and clients to ensure efficient distribution, compliance, and strong market coverage.

Description

  • Oversee timely, accurate invoice payments and vendor communications
  • Manage reconciliations, payments, and dispute resolution
  • Monitor cash flow trends and maintain clean financial records
  • Improve payment forecasting, controls, and team accountability
  • Lead and develop a team of 3, including hiring and performance management
  • Provide technical guidance and support complex issue resolution
  • Review team work for accuracy and efficiency
  • Report key risks, trends, and cash flow insights to leadership
  • Manage vendor data, credit reviews, and internal loan activity
  • Analyze KPIs and deliver actionable performance feedback
  • Ensure US GAAP compliance and proper invoice coding
  • Maintain financial records and documentation standards
  • Develop SOPs and training materials for AP/AR
  • Oversee 1099 filings, month-end close, and audit support
  • Support ad hoc finance and operational projects

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 10+ years of accounting experience across AP/AR; beverage alcohol industry experience a plus
  • SAP experience preferred; Concur Invoice knowledge a plus
  • Strong ability to collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Polished verbal and written communication abilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
