Summary:
This position reports to the Vice President of Administrative Services for Dixie Technical College and is primarily responsible for accounts payable. Dixie Tech is a public technical college located in a new state-of-the-art campus in St. George, Utah. The College has 30 Council on Occupational Education-accredited programs that offer certifications in high-demand, high-pay professions.
The position will be scheduled for up to 40 hours per week and pays between $23 and $31 per hour, depending upon qualifications and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sort, code, and match invoices.
- Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.
- Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying federal ID numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; ensuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments.
- Prepares checks in response to invoices and check requests; obtains approval for check runs.
- Verifies receipt of invoiced items.
- Relieves encumbrances.
- Notifies the VP of Admin Services or other finance personnel of payments that can be made by P-Card.
- Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
- Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
- Produce monthly reports. Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
- Assist with year-end closing.
- Maintain vendor files.
- Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
- Maintains historical records by scanning and filing documents.
- Provide supporting documentation for audit.
- Reports sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices.
- Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Assisting with payroll, accounts receivable and other general accounting duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:
- High School diploma required
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or a similar field required
- Prefer experience in payroll, accounts receivable, and general accounting
- Proficient in data entry and data management
- Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Office & Google Suite applications
- Strong communication and time management skills
- May require standing and walking, and the ability to intermittently kneel down, stoop, bend at the waist, twist at the waist, and reach, or sit for long periods of time. Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly; have good vision to read print and a computer screen; have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to include repetitive keyboarding, grasping, and reaching to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and/or standard office equipment; have ability to lift up to 20 lbs. on occasion (boxes, paper, office supplies, etc.); have the ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, printers, multi-line phone systems); and have the ability to hear and speak to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.
