Residential Handyperson

Summary: We are looking for a professional Residential Handyperson with residential building maintenance skills to support the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of building systems and equipment at a 27-building residential community in Brooklyn. This position will coordinate and complete requested work, assign priorities, and follow up on completion. Classification: Non-exempt (eligible for overtime); Non-Union Location: Brooklyn, NY 11233 Essential functions/Responsibilities: duties include but are not limited to the following - Performs routine property maintenance and repairs, including light plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, and light electrical work
- Works closely with the Property Manager and Superintendent, who will help coordinate tasks
- Coordinates with tenants to schedule access to apartments and complete repairs
- Efficiently manages incoming service requests and work orders
- Repairs walkways and building exteriors
- Tracks time and logs activities and completed work for each job
- Completes renovation projects as needed
- Performs high-quality work with attention to detail
- Participates in an on-call rotation with the Superintendent to respond to tenant requests and building issues, with compensation provided for travel to the property
Requirements: - Thorough understanding of safety hazards and the proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of experience with a successful track record as a Maintenance Technician or Handyperson
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs, including additional hours and adjusted shifts as required
- Experience and knowledge in construction and residential maintenance
- Ability to complete a variety of repairs, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with tenants and other staff
- Comfortable using email, text messages, and mobile apps for business purposes
- Reliable vehicle for travel between property locations
- Ownership of tools needed for general Handyperson tasks is a plus
Pay Range: $18.00 to $20.47 per hour
