Job Title: API Test Engineer Duration: 12+ Months (Possible extension) Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15258 Onsite Role (4 days a week)
Responsibilities:
Seeking an experienced API Test Engineer to design, execute, and automate testing for REST based APIs supporting mission critical, bi directional system integrations.
This role focuses on service level testing and plays a key part in ensuring API reliability, security, and readiness for production.
Strong understanding of REST APIs, hands on experience with API testing tools, and the ability to translate technical requirements into robust test scenarios across functional, negative, and integration cases.
Scenarios include:
Positive scenarios (valid inputs)
Negative scenarios (invalid/missing data)
Boundary conditions
Error handling and edge cases
An API tester needs to understand:
HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE)
Status codes (200, 201, 400, 401, 403, 404, 500, 429)
Request/response headers
JSON request and response bodies
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree
5+ years of system testing, writing and executing test cases
Application testing experience related to REST API
