    # Apigee Developer Key Responsibilities

    ## Role Description

    • API Management Development and Automation: Using Apigee Edge/X, design, build, test, deploy, and manage API proxies, shared flows, products, and developer apps using CI/CD.
    • API Proxy and Rules Engine Development: Implement proxy flows, policies, OAuth, JWT, Spike Arrest, Quota, CORS, Cache, Message Logging, fault/exception handling, mediation, XML/JSON, and routing. Leverage JavaScript, Python, Java callouts as needed.
    • Development Portal Configuration: Configure and customize Apigee Developer Portal, Drupal Portal, Next-Gen Portal. Set up API products, app registration, API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger), and self-service onboarding workflows.
    • IaC for Apigee Environments: Model Apigee org/envs, keystores, KVMs, target servers, and API products via Terraform/Apigee Config Management. Parameterize for multi-env promotion.
    • API Security: Design and implement API security including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, JWT validation, IP whitelisting, ACL, secret management, and KMS.
    • Observability: Implement logging, tracing, and metrics with Apigee Analytics, Splunk, ELK, Cloud Logging/Monitoring. Define SLOs and error budgets.
    • CI/CD Pipelines: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI) for linting, unit tests, integration tests, security scans, and zero-downtime deployments.
    • Collaboration: Collaborate with product, architecture, and backend teams to design event-driven and RESTful integrations, ensuring versioning, backward compatibility, and deprecation strategies.
    • API Specifications: Author and maintain API specifications (OpenAPI 3.x), standards, reusable shared flows, and best-practice templates.
    • Performance Engineering: Support load tests, caching strategy, throttling, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
    • Incident Management: Triage incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive platform reliability and resiliency improvements.

    ## Required Qualifications

    • Experience: 3-5 years hands-on with Apigee Edge or X building API proxies, policies, products, developer apps, and shared flows.
    • API Security: Strong knowledge of API security (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, rate limiting, caching, and error-handling patterns).
    • CI/CD: Proficiency with CI/CD for Apigee using Maven, apigeetool, apigeecli, Apigee Deploy Plugins, and Git workflows.
    • IaC: Experience with IaC for Apigee environments using Terraform, apigee-config-maven-plugin, or Apigee X Config API.
    • Development Portal: Experience in Development portal configuration (Apigee Portal, Drupal, Next-Gen Portal) and API onboarding workflows.
    • Programming Skills: JavaScript and one or more languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
    • API Standards: Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger, REST best practices, JSON/XML, and schema validation.
    • Cloud Platforms: Exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP (preferred), AWS, or Azure.
    • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, documentation discipline, and stakeholder communication.
    • Network Fundamentals: Knowledge of TLS, DNS, proxies.
