Opportunity:

Advanced Practice - Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery, Nurse Practitioner - Cardiovascular Surgery

Job Details:

  • Monday through Friday onsite coverage from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with providers expected to attend the daily cardiovascular surgery morning meeting at 7:00 AM

  • Saturday and Sunday 24-hour coverage with approximately 4 hours onsite, arriving at 6:00 AM to begin rounding

  • Preferred schedule is 7 days on, 7 days off Monday through Sunday

  • NP or PA must have cardiothoracic experience; PAs must have endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) experience with approximately 500 cases over 10 years

  • Primary responsibilities include rounding and medical management, including call coverage, especially on weekends

  • Weekend rounding on inpatients in the morning alongside a surgeon, followed by call coverage for the remainder of the day and night

  • Weekday call hours from 4:30 PM to 6:00 AM; weekend call hours from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM

  • Responsibilities include daily rounding on all inpatients in ICU and stepdown units, new consults, and patient discharges

  • OR responsibilities include EVH using HemaPro 2, assisting with training new APPs on EVH, open vein harvest, endoscopic vein harvesting for fem-pop surgeries, and first assisting on cases as surgeon routines are learned

  • Cardiac specialties include all adult cardiac surgeries such as CABG, valve procedures, and aortic dissections with a high-acuity patient population

  • Thoracic specialties include robotic surgeries, VATS, thoracotomies, lobectomies, wedge resections, decortications, and mediastinal mass procedures (no esophageal)

  • Vascular specialties include all open vascular surgeries such as CEA, AAA, and leg revascularizations

  • Heart failure specialties include LVAD, ECMO, and Impella support

  • Estimated 8 to 10 inpatient encounters per shift

  • ACLS and BLS certifications required

  • Board certification required; facility is a Level 2 trauma center

  • A laptop is required for call coverage
