Opportunity:

Advanced Practice - Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery, Nurse Practitioner - Cardiovascular Surgery

Job Details:

• Monday through Friday onsite coverage from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with attendance at the daily Cardiovascular Surgery morning meeting at 7:00 AM
• 
  
• Saturday and Sunday 24-hour coverage with approximately 4 hours onsite, beginning at 6:00 AM for morning rounding
• 
  
• Preferred schedule is 7 days on / 7 days off, Monday through Sunday
• 
  
• NP or PA must have cardiothoracic experience; PAs must be proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) with approximately 500 cases or 10 years of experience
• 
  
• Primary responsibilities include rounding and medical management, with call coverage especially on weekends
• 
  
• Weekend rounding on inpatients in the morning alongside a surgeon, followed by call coverage for the remainder of the day and night
• 
  
• Call coverage for patient management includes inpatient care, ER consultations, and transfers from other hospitals; call hours are 4:30 PM to 6:00 AM on weekdays and 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM on weekends
• 
  
• A rounding nurse is available on weekends from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM to assist with first-line phone calls and orders
• 
  
• Daily rounding on all inpatients in the ICU and stepdown units, as well as new consults and patient discharges
• 
  
• OR responsibilities include EVH using Hemapro 2, assisting in training new APPs on EVH, open or endoscopic vein harvesting for femoral-popliteal surgeries, and first assist on cases once familiar with surgeon routines
• 
  
• Cardiac specialties include all adult cardiac surgeries such as CABG, valve procedures, and aortic dissections, with a high acuity patient population
• 
  
• Thoracic specialties include robotic surgeries, VATs, thoracotomies, lobectomies, wedge resections, decortications, and mediastinal mass procedures (no esophageal)
• 
  
• Vascular specialties include all types of open vascular surgeries such as CEA, AAA, and leg revascularizations
• 
  
• Heart failure management includes LVAD, ECMO, and Impella support
• 
  
• Expected patient encounters per shift are approximately 8 to 10 inpatients
• 
  
• ACLS and BLS certifications required; board certification required
• 
  
• A personal laptop is required for call coverage
• 
  
• Locums-to-perm opportunity
