    Opportunity:

    Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - Cardiothoracic


    Job Details:

    • Cardiothoracic surgery and endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) experience required

    • Minimum of 2 years of cardiothoracic surgery experience required

    • Weekdays: Clinic and night call (Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM plus weeknight call)

    • Weekends: 24-hour on-call coverage (Saturday - Sunday)

    • Responsibilities include OR assistance, ICU/floor management, and weekday night call

    • Assist daily in the OR with surgical cases; averaging 1-2 cases per day

    • No outpatient clinic duties expected; focus is on daily OR and inpatient management

    • Averages approximately 125 CABG cases per year with few emergent cases

    • Call ratio of 1:2

    • Providers must be proficient in all aspects of cardiothoracic surgery including CABG, EVH, open valvular surgery, and thoracic procedures such as thoracotomy and lobectomy

    • Board Certified Nurse Practitioner, ACLS, and BLS required

    • Active Iowa license required

    • Clean malpractice and background history required

    • NPDB self-query report pulled within 30 days required at time of presentation
