Required License/Registration/Certification

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) Certification or enrollment in Post Master's ACNP program within one year of hire or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C)

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements for this position include regularly sitting, standing, walking, with some pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects weighing up to 10lbs and occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects up to 50lbs.

Shift

Day Shift; 40-hours/week M-F. Occasional weekend coverage.

Job Summary

The Gen Surgery/Trauma Inpatient APP works within the adult progressive care and acute care areas and is an integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team.

The APP functions primarily managing acutely ill adults for the Emergency General Surgery Team and serves as a resource throughout UKHC for consultation. The APP is generally on a service aligned team and manages patient care from admission to discharge. In some instances, the APP may have responsibilities for this same patient population as they return for follow up in the outpatient setting.

The APP has a strong foundation in evidenced-based practice and education and is responsible for ensuring safe quality care. The APP demonstrates an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.
