Department Details Marshfield Medical Center - Weston is seeking a Nurse Practitioner in Endocrinology in Weston, Wisconsin. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a skilled member of the health team who provides medical and educational services to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician according to Nurse Practitioner Protocol and within the scope of the Nurse Practitioner License in the State of Wisconsin.

Job Summary The Endocrinology Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care to patients with endocrine disorders such as diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, adrenal and pituitary disorders, and metabolic conditions. The NP works collaboratively with endocrinologists and healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive evidence-based care emphasizing patient education, disease management, and prevention.

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including history-taking, physical exams, and review of diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic endocrine disorders.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests as per scope of practice and state regulations.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Provide patient education on disease processes, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and self-care techniques.
  • Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, diabetes educators, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current with advances in endocrinology.
  • Facilitate referrals to specialists or community resources as needed.
  • Support research activities or clinical trials if applicable.

Qualifications

  • Masters or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, masters degree in nursing is preferred.
  • Certification in Diabetes Education (CDE) or experience in diabetes management is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of endocrine disorders, pathophysiology, and treatment modalities.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
  • State Controlled Substance License if required by State.
  • National board certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) or ACNPC-AG Acute Care Adult (ACNP-BC). Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader.
  • Family (FNP-BC) or FNP-C.
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC) or A-GNP.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
  • Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications criteria and scope of practice if variation between documents exists.
