Job Duties: APP Surgical Care - Cardiac
Provide comprehensive health care to patients and families with various adult and congenital cardiac diseases throughout the continuum of inpatient hospitalization. Diagnose medical conditions, plan and implement interventions, and evaluate patient responses in collaboration with a designated supervising physician. Perform and/or assist with diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Daily responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Independently round and collaborate with attending surgeons, consulting and multidisciplinary teams; monitor and manage critically ill patients in the ICU requiring mechanical cardiac and/or pulmonary support; identify and manage postoperative complications; transfer patients to appropriate levels of care; plan discharges; evaluate and manage new admissions/consults; act as mentor/resource for educating nurses and students (NP, PA, and medical); participate in team quality and outcome driven activities/initiatives; participate in research activities as requested/appropriate.
Required Qualifications: APP Surgical Care - Cardiac
Nurse Practitioner
Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
Minimum of two years RN experience or equivalent combination of RN and nurse practitioner experience combined (two years of RN experience equals one year of APRN experience) required.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or current compact state required.
Currently licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) required.
Appropriate certification required based on position, department and population served:
Adult Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP-BC)
Adult (ANP-BC)
Family (FNP-BC)
Adult Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC)
Physician Assistant
Both Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant
