Coverage needed ASAP on an ongoing basis, likely 6 months, at 40 hours per week with some call
24/7 service coverage spread amongst 7-8 APPs with shifts varying between 10-hour and 12-hour options requiring flexibility for either
Typical shifts include 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM, or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM depending on staffing needs
Nights and weekends are required but rotated amongst all staff; weekend and night shifts are scheduled in-house hours, not considered call
Call coverage required approximately 1-2 days per week, either in-house or beeper call with phone forwarded to cell
100% inpatient setting with no clinic; adult and geriatric patient population
Typical census of 15-20 patients total with individual rounding on 3-5 patients per day and approximately 7-8 OR cases per day
Responsibilities include inpatient medical management, rounding, and first assisting in the OR for approximately 5 surgeons
Must be comfortable with medical management including diabetes, hypertension, and acute illness, as well as pre and post-operative vascular surgical care
Must be comfortable with open vascular cases including peripheral bypass, carotid surgery, AV fistula creation, and open abdominal aortic surgery
Bedside procedures may include suturing, permcath removal, wound vacs, and dressing changes/wound care
Vascular surgery only with no cross-specialty coverage
EMR system: Epic
NP or PA with RNFA credential required
Active NY State License required at time of submission
BLS and ACLS certifications required
Minimum 2-3 years of vascular surgery experience required; candidates with cardiac surgery experience that included vascular surgery cross-coverage will also be considered
Facility:
This is an approximately 450-bed acute care hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and surgical services. The vascular surgery service is a very busy and high-acuity program supported by a dedicated, full-time team of NPs and PAs, many of whom have been with the team for at least five years with minimal turnover. The facility provides a collaborative and experienced work environment with direct coverage of multiple surgeons' patients and surgeries.
