    Description

AFNHA AmeriCorps members engage in hands-on service with local agencies and non-profits to conserve mountain ecosystems and enhance rural cultural heritage. In conservation roles, members protect forest health by conducting tree plantings, controlling invasive species, and monitoring local ecosystems. Those focused on community heritage manage museum collections, assist with historic preservation, and support rural revitalization. Members also drive stewardship education by designing and conducting interpretive tours, youth programs, and community outreach events. Additionally, they create impactful communication materials like exhibits, signs, and digital media to share local stories. Across all positions, members build community capacity by recruiting and managing volunteers, coordinating community service projects, and supporting local development initiatives.
