Job Description:

Apparel Designer

Location: Hybrid (Greater Seattle Area)

Employment Type: Contract (Possibility for FTE)

Role Overview

This is a contract position supporting the apparel design team with seasonal design work across sportswear categories (excluding outerwear). The role focuses on creating and refining design assets while supporting increased workload across seasonal design initiatives. This is an individual contributor role on a small design team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and refine seasonal design assets, including sketches, mood boards, and color cads, for sportswear categories.
  • Maintain organized and accessible digital design files to support efficient workflows and version control.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for design reviews and stakeholder presentations.
  • Accurately update and maintain PLM systems in alignment with product development timelines.
  • Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues.
  • Support multiple categories and adapt to changing project priorities.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency across design files, PLM updates, and documentation.
  • Incorporate trend and market insights into seasonal design work.

Required Qualifications

Experience:

  • Prior apparel or product design experience required
  • Experience creating seasonal design assets (sketches, mood boards, color cads)
  • Proven ability to work independently and proactively manage own workflow
  • Experience maintaining organized digital files and accurately updating PLM systems
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines within a structured product development calendar

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Creative Suite (required)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Experience with PLM systems
  • Familiarity with Figma or FigJam (training provided)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in apparel or product design (a relevant degree combined with industry experience may be considered)
  • Strong personal design point of view with the ability to apply it to product direction
  • Experience gathering and applying market trends to inform design decisions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Portfolio showcasing relevant design work

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $45 - $55/hr DOE.
