Position Summary:

Ogletree Deakins has the opportunity for an experienced eBilling Appeals Specialist to join the Firm’s expanding Accounting & Finance Department. The position is responsible for all aspects of the appeals process, this includes an understanding of eBilling system requirements, providing information regarding reductions to attorneys and practice assistants, analyzing data to recommend areas for process improvement as well as, attorney training and following up on outstanding appeal responses. The eBilling Appeals Specialist has knowledge of the eBilling/appeals process and client guidelines and complies with eBilling and Billing policies. The eBilling Appeals Specialist is expected to handle appeal submissions, understand different billing scenarios, provide excellent service to clients, attorneys, and colleagues while producing a timely and accurate work product. The eBilling Appeals Specialist is expected to maintain an atmosphere of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions:
  • Ability to work with Billblast platform to generate LEDES files and manipulate invoices for transmission of appeals
  • Generate recap reports for attorney review by entering reduction information into Aderant workflow
  • Update the status and notes for invoices in Billblast accordingly
  • Provide additional information for attorneys on invoice reductions if needed
  • Follow up on outstanding appeal language in a timely manner
  • Works closely with eBiller regarding timekeeper reductions
  • Submit appeals to vendor sites by creating Ledes file in Billblast
  • Proactively seek assistance and/or escalation to meet client deadlines.
  • Works closely with different financial teams to ensure quick resolution for reduced balances.
  • Clear knowledge of the eBilling/billing process for insurance clients to ensure compliance with billing requirements
  • Understanding of timekeeper rates
  • Submission of timekeeper rate appeals
  • Working with matter information and billing to ensure rates are updated in Aderant billing system to match client approval rates on eBilling vendor site
  • Understanding of eBilling vendor sites
Requirements:
  • 2-year undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred and/or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably within a global law firm or professional services environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of accounting and billing functions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and related technology.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and editing capabilities.
  • Excellent customer services skills.
  • Ability and willingness to assess procedures and proactively recommend improvements to existing processes.
  • Ability and willingness to prioritize and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction while adapting to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Commitment to perform job responsibilities with high professional and ethical standards.

Benefits:

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this Colorado position is between $65,770 and $85,114. In accordance with New York State’s Wage Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this New York State position is between $59,847 and $93,808. In accordance with California’s amended labor code as stated in Senate Bill 1162, the expected salary range for this California position is between $61,703 and

$93,808. In accordance with the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities act, the expected salary range for this Washington position is between $68,952 and $89,232. In accordance with the Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act, the expected salary range for this DC position is between $68,952 and $89,232. In accordance with Maryland’s Equal Pay for Equal Work-Wage Range Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Baltimore position is between

$61,703 and $79,851. In accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act Transparency Notice, the expected salary range for this Illinois position is between $68,952 and $89,232.  In accordance with Massachusetts Frances Perkins Workplace Equity Act, the expected salary range for this Massachusetts position is between $72,488 and $93,808. In accordance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Minnesota position is between $61,703 and $79,851. In accordance with New Jersey Senate Bill 2310, the expected salary range for this New Jersey position is between $72,488 and $93,808. In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, as of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current scale range for this position in Cleveland, OH is $59,847 and $77,449 annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
