Location: This is a hybrid role based in Seattle, Washington, offering the opportunity to work with a collaborative legal team while maintaining some flexibility.

Note: Candidates must be admitted to the Washington Bar and in good standing. Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills are essential, and recent judicial clerkship experience is strongly preferred.

Job Description

  • Draft appellate briefs, motions, trial reports, and other written advocacy in trial and appellate matters
  • Research and analyze complex legal issues with precision, judgment, and attention to detail
  • Work closely with senior attorneys on case strategy, issue development, and appellate-focused written advocacy
  • Support trial teams as embedded appellate counsel, including assisting with preservation of issues and trial-related reporting
  • Help shape arguments and strategy in complex civil litigation and appeals
  • Develop oral advocacy skills through increasing responsibility in trial and appellate matters
  • Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and staff to deliver thoughtful, accurate, and timely legal work
  • Manage competing deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and professionalism

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Active Washington Bar admission in good standing
  • 1+ years of civil litigation experience
  • Recent judicial clerkship experience strongly preferred, especially with a state or federal appellate court
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to provide multiple strong writing samples
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with attorneys, clients, and staff
  • Eagerness to take initiative, learn, and grow into increasing responsibility
