Job Title: Application Architect

Location: Remote (LA)
Duration: 6 Months (with possible extension up to 2 years)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Application Architect to lead enterprise architecture and modernization initiatives for a large-scale public sector transformation program.

This role will be responsible for designing scalable, secure, and highly available enterprise application solutions, ensuring alignment with governance standards, compliance requirements, and long-term operational goals.

The Application Architect will act as the technical authority across application architecture, integrations, security, workflow automation, auditability, and modernization strategy.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise application architecture strategies for modernization initiatives
• Define secure and scalable frameworks supporting multi-unit financial and operational systems
• Lead architecture decisions across:
  • Workflows
  • Integrations
  • Security
  • Reporting
  • Hosting environments
• Design application structures enabling:
  • Workflow automation
  • Automated validations
  • Fiscal and operational lifecycle management
• Architect secure RBAC environments integrated with:
  • Microsoft Entra ID
  • SAML 2.0 Single Sign-On (SSO)
• Define and implement audit logging frameworks including:
  • User activity tracking
  • Administrative actions
  • Data change history (before/after)
  • Compliance event logging
• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and resilient
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams
• Collaborate with stakeholders including program leadership, business analysts, and engineering teams
• Support cloud and hybrid hosting strategies (backup, DR, monitoring, security)
• Ensure compliance with enterprise governance and security standards
• Evaluate and recommend modernization approaches and emerging technologies
• Participate in architecture reviews and solution governance processes

Required Experience

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise application architecture
• Strong expertise in designing large-scale data management systems
• Experience with workflow automation and process modernization
• Strong background in secure enterprise architecture and auditability
• Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
• Deep knowledge of:
  • Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
  • Single Sign-On (SSO)
  • Microsoft Entra ID
  • SAML 2.0 authentication
• Experience supporting financial, reporting, or operational system modernization
• Strong understanding of enterprise hosting and cloud architectures
• Proven leadership and mentoring experience
• Experience working in Agile environments

Preferred Experience

• Experience with public sector or government modernization projects
• Background in:
  • Transportation systems
  • Financial systems / ERP
  • Operational reporting platforms
• Experience with Azure cloud architecture
• Familiarity with enterprise audit logging frameworks
• Experience with enterprise reporting and dashboarding solutions
