Application & Data Platform Specialist
We are hiring an Application & Data Platform Specialist to support enterprise applications, data platforms, and reporting environments. This role will have a strong focus on Snowflake and Tableau administration, while also providing technical support for enterprise applications, databases, integrations, infrastructure, and production environments.
This is a hybrid position in the Quincy, MA, area. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to this location.
Please note: No C2C, Subcontracting or Visa Sponsorship of any kind is available for this position.
The Application & Data Platform Specialist will work closely with application and solutions architecture teams, developers, database administrators, infrastructure teams, security teams, and business stakeholders. The position combines hands-on platform administration with application support, technical analysis, troubleshooting, development support, and solution implementation.
What Youll Do
Application Architecture & Technical Support
- Support application and solutions architecture teams in evaluating, designing, documenting, and implementing application solutions and enhancements.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications, designs, and implementation plans.
- Provide technical analysis and recommendations related to application architecture, databases, interfaces, middleware, infrastructure, and integrations.
- Develop and maintain technical designs, application documentation, diagrams, and implementation artifacts.
- Participate in technical reviews of application changes, database scripts, interfaces, and production releases.
- Support application modernization and enhancement initiatives.
- Serve as a technical resource to development, QA, infrastructure, operations, and business teams.
Application & Production Support
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of application components, databases, interfaces, middleware, operating systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- Support production and non-production application environments in collaboration with technical teams.
- Coordinate and support application installations, configurations, deployments, upgrades, and production releases.
- Troubleshoot complex application, database, interface, infrastructure, and batch-processing issues.
- Perform or support application database administration and UNIX/Linux administration activities.
- Maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and application knowledge-base information.
- Support production operations and participate in on-call activities as required.
Snowflake & Tableau Administration
- Administer and support enterprise Snowflake and Tableau environments, ensuring availability, security, performance, and reliability.
- Manage Snowflake databases, schemas, warehouses, users, roles, permissions, and platform configurations.
- Monitor Snowflake workloads, queries, storage, and compute utilization.
- Assist with Snowflake performance and cost optimization.
- Administer Tableau Server and/or Tableau Cloud, including users, groups, permissions, projects, data sources, dashboards, workbooks, extracts, schedules, and subscriptions.
- Monitor Tableau platform performance, extract refreshes, scheduled processes, and system utilization.
- Troubleshoot Snowflake and Tableau operational issues.
- Manage platform access controls in accordance with security and data-governance standards.
- Support Tableau connectivity to Snowflake and other enterprise data sources.
- Support platform upgrades, integrations, configuration changes, capacity planning, and lifecycle management.
- Maintain administration standards, operating procedures, and technical documentation for both platforms.
Data, Reporting & Development Support
- Develop and support enterprise reports, queries, scripts, and data solutions.
- Support data reconciliation, database corrections, data archiving, query tuning, and performance optimization.
- Work with analysts and business stakeholders to translate reporting and data requirements into technical solutions.
- Support development and testing of application enhancements and technical fixes.
- Review database and production scripts for technical accuracy and operational readiness.
- Ensure batch processes and scheduled jobs are appropriately documented, monitored, and designed to operate efficiently with minimal manual intervention.
Collaboration & Customer Support
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, database, data, architecture, and business teams.
- Proactively investigate and resolve application and customer issues, coordinating resolution across technical teams.
- Communicate task, project, and issue status clearly to management and stakeholders.
- Maintain current technical knowledge and share information and best practices with team members.
Experience with several of the following is preferred:
- Snowflake administration and performance optimization
- Tableau Server and/or Tableau Cloud administration
- Oracle, SQL Server, SQL, and PL/SQL
- Java and enterprise application development
- UNIX/Linux and shell scripting
- AWS and cloud environments
- Application interfaces and system integrations
- Database administration and query tuning
- Enterprise reporting and analytics
- XML/XSLT and service-oriented architecture
- HIPAA/HL7 environments
- Production application and batch-processing support
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- 5+ years of professional IT experience in application development, systems analysis, database administration, platform administration, or production support.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple technical assignments and work independently while collaborating with senior technical resources.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer-service and stakeholder-management skills.
Pay up to $61 / hour W2
