CGI Federal is growing its high-performance team whose members share a passion for building high-quality, scalable, advanced IT solutions in a collaborative, fast-paced, outcome-driven mission.

This position is located in our Arlington office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities ( Entry Level)

  • Coding: Write and maintain clean, simple source code using programming languages like JavaScript, Python, or Java.
  • Testing & Debugging: Assist in running unit and integration tests to identify errors, followed by making basic code fixes.
  • Prototyping: Create basic design layouts or software prototypes based on provided specifications.
  • Maintenance: Update and modify existing applications, patch bugs, and maintain technical documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with senior developers, UX designers, and project managers to understand basic app requirements.

Key Responsibilities ( Junior Level)

  • Programming & Code Creation: Write, configure, and maintain code for software applications following specified design guidelines.
  • Debugging & Testing: Participate in functional and non-functional testing. Execute test plans to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, workflow flowcharts, and system procedures.
  • User Support: Perform routine corrections based on user feedback and provide end-user troubleshooting.
  • Collaboration: Assist higher-level developers and project managers by attending design meetings and requirements-gathering sessions

Key Responsibilities (Mid-Level)

  • Software Development & Integration: Write and maintain clean, scalable code for complex applications, APIs, and data integrations.
  • Systems Analysis: Analyze user needs, define requirements, and create technical design specifications and architectural prototypes.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Design test plans, conduct unit testing, and perform debugging to ensure software performance and reliability.
  • Support & Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve complex application errors, optimize system performance, and provide technical guidance to end-users.
  • Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, system manuals, and workflow diagrams.

Key Responsibilities (Senior Level)

  • Complex System Architecture: Design and architect robust, scalable, and secure software applications and back-end database schemas.
  • Advanced Development: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in polyglot distributed environments (e.g., C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, or specialized frameworks).
  • Technical Leadership: Act as a technical subject matter expert and project lead. Guide cross-functional teams, conduct code reviews, and enforce organizational coding and security standards.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose highly ambiguous and complex technical problems, install fixes, and correct performance bottlenecks.
  • Integration & API Management: Design, build, and maintain complex API integrations, event-driven data flows, and cloud-native services.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Consult with business analysts, management, and end-users to translate functional business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Documentation: Author comprehensive technical documentation, architecture blueprints, and system manuals

Key Responsibilities (SME Level)

  • System Architecture & Design: Lead the design, modification, and development of highly complex distributed applications, API integrations, and scalable database systems.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Guide, direct, and oversee software development teams through the project lifecycle. Act as an escalation point for resolving extremely complex coding bugs and architectural roadblocks.
  • Business Analysis: Work directly with senior stakeholders and business users to translate complex, evolving requirements into concrete technical and functional specifications.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead the creation of robust functional and non-functional test plans. Define criteria for unit, integration, and security testing to ensure application stability and compliance.
  • Standards & Compliance: Set, champion, and regularly revise the enterprise-wide guidelines for coding, security, and change management.
