The Applications Engineer will lead the development of technical solutions, concepts, and proposals for complex automation projects, with a focus on turnkey systems, AMRs, robotic cells, vision systems, retrofits, and integrations.

This role blends deep technical applications engineering with client-facing sales responsibilities. The ideal candidate will own concepts with minimal oversight, lead key proposal presentations, and support process improvement within the Sales applications function.

Protect and cultivate our relationship-driven sales culture, building trust with clients and team members through clear, direct communication and consistent follow-through.
\n
Lead the development of equipment concepts, layouts, and technical solutions for complex turnkey automation projects, including AMR systems, robot cells, vision systems, retrofits, and integrations.
\n
Conduct structured technical discovery with clients and internal teams to clarify requirements, uncover risks, and translate needs into clear, documented scopes of work.
\n
Develop and write comprehensive technical proposals, including scope, assumptions, deliverables, risks, and schedules aligned with Hyperion standards.
\n
Lead key client presentations and proposal reviews, clearly communicating concepts, assumptions, risks, and value while answering technical and commercial questions.
\n
Own the Sales-to-Engineering handoff to ensure a smooth transition from proposal award into project execution.
\n
Provide input on pricing strategy, partnering with leadership to balance competitiveness, risk, and costing on complex opportunities.
\n
Help develop and refine sales tools, templates, and calculators for turnkey automation, such as standard BOM templates, estimating worksheets, and risk/assumption checklists.

Solicit and evaluate supplier quotations for purchased equipment and services.

Qualifications
\n
\n
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
\n
3+ years of experience in automation applications, systems engineering, or technical sales, including direct involvement in concepting and estimating custom automation solutions.
\n
Proven experience developing concepts and proposals for custom automation systems, ideally including AMRs, robotic cells, vision systems, and complex integrations.
\n
Demonstrated ability to lead client-facing technical discussions and proposal presentations, including handling detailed questions on scope, assumptions, and pricing.
\n
Strong ability to interpret and work with mechanical and electrical designs, including reviewing CAD layouts and drawings at a conceptual level.
\n
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines simultaneously.
\n
Proficiency with common office and engineering tools, such as Microsoft Office and CAD software.
\n
Willingness to travel to client sites as needed to support discovery visits, presentations, and key project milestones.
\n
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
