Salary Range: $105,756 - $144,725

Job Summary:

Hydro Extrusions North America provides world class extruded aluminum solutions to every major market. Within this business unit is a diverse group of engineers and designers working to drive the use of aluminum extrusions in North America through new product development, product design, design for manufacturability, metallurgy, and customer education.

This unique position will provide you with the opportunity to engage both your engineering and relational skills to affect the future of sustainable aluminum design in North America. By developing key relationships with customers' engineers and designers you will expand their knowledge of aluminum design and industrial manufacturing processes while working with colleagues across multiple disciplines ranging from manufacturing engineers to market analysts.

What you will be doing

  • Provide technical design support to a wide range of customers in the industrial and consumer markets.
  • Actively participate in customers' technical reviews and development projects.
  • Support launch of future programs through technical expertise and program management.
  • Identify, analyze, and help implement new technology and products improvements through program lifecycles.
  • Simplify, standardize, and improve the manufacturability of customers' new and current products.
  • Function as a liaison between customer's and Hydro's operational/commercial teams.
  • Coordinate and/or lead meetings and reporting for assigned projects.
  • Maintain records of specific improvement ideas for reporting while tracking and providing status updates for assigned metrics.

What will make you successful?

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent field required.
  • 5 years of engineering and product design required.
  • Up to 50% domestic travel is required.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with aluminum or metals industries preferred.
  • Design experience, proficiency in 3D modelling software (Solidworks preferred), FEA experience preferred.
  • Sales Engineering experience or commercial training is desirable.
  • Experience serving a wide range of industries and applications a plus.
  • Strong background in metals (aluminum preferred) and fabrication processes with design experience.
  • Ability to quickly analyze technical challenges, develop functional solutions, and clearly communicate them to customers.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with customers and specific projects across disciplines and locations while executing successful hand-offs to sales and operations.
