Position Summary: We are seeking seeking an Application Engineer (MagneRide Dampers, Passive Dampers & Roll Control) to work with our application engineering and product development teams specializing in pneumatic and hydraulic vehicle lift and leveling systems. In this role, you will translate advanced electronic, embedded hardware, and system-level solutions into customer-specific vehicle applications and support the full product lifecycle from initial concept through high-volume production release. You will be responsible for defining and managing application requirements, supporting system integration and component selection, coordinating vehicle- and bench-level validation and testing activities, and preparing the technical documentation needed to support OEM programs. This position requires strong technical expertise in vehicle electronic systems and vertical dynamics, along with the collaboration skills needed to work effectively with a high-performing multidisciplinary team.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Current Production Business Support

  • Support customer programs involving passive and / or semi-active suspension systems
  • Act as the primary technical interface with OEM customers during development and launch phases
  • Coordinate with hardware, software, and systems teams to ensure proper integration and performance
  • Support vehicle tuning, ride evaluations, and validation activities
  • Assist in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of system-level issues
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications and program timing


Suspension Business Development (“Wins”)

  • Identify and support opportunities to expand suspension product offerings
  • Collaborate with sales and program management to develop technical proposals and win new business
  • Provide application engineering support for RFQs, including feasibility, cost, and performance input
  • Support benchmarking and competitive analysis for passive systems


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with OEM engineering teams, internal R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain
  • Support design reviews, DV/PV testing, and launch readiness activities
  • Ensure alignment between customer requirements and internal engineering deliverables


REQUIREMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test data
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
  • 3–7+ years of experience in automotive application engineering or suspension systems
  • Experience with semi-active or active suspension systems
  • Familiarity with vehicle testing, tuning, and calibration
  • Knowledge of automotive development processes (APQP, DV/PV, launch)
  • Exposure to ECUs, sensors, and control systems
  • Background working with global OEMs (Ford, GM, Stellantis, etc.)
  • Understanding of vehicle dynamics and ride/handling characteristics


TRAVEL REQUIRED (%): 

>50% travel to meet customers and suppliers with day travel to the various manufacturing facilities as required.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


COMPUTER SKILLS:

Ability to use and understand Windows Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint, Microsoft (email). This is additional to the computer skill requirements as stated in the requirement qualifications.


REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering prints/drawings. Good level of analytical skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to work on a team. Ability to guide the efforts of support personnel. Good team building skills.
