Description:

CTG is seeking an Application Packaging Engineer to support a leading financial services organization. This role will be part of the Packaging Team responsible for automating and managing software installations across enterprise endpoints, including desktops, laptops, virtual devices, servers, and operating systems.

 

Location: Buffalo, NY (Hybrid – 4 days onsite at Buffalo Tech Hub, 1 day remote)
Duration: 12-Months with possibility of extension or conversion 

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in application packaging, PowerShell scripting, and SCCM administration. This position requires someone who can evaluate application requirements, understand installation configurations and dependencies, and develop automated deployment solutions within a large enterprise environment.

**Junior-level candidates with strong technical skills and relevant packaging experience will be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Package, test, and deploy enterprise applications using standardized packaging methodologies.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot PowerShell scripts used for application deployment and automation.
  • Review application installers, configurations, dependencies, and requirements to determine the best packaging approach.
  • Utilize SCCM/MECM to package, distribute, monitor, and troubleshoot software deployments.
  • Perform application smoke testing and validation prior to production releases.
  • Monitor Jira work queues and manage packaging requests.
  • Support application deployment testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
  • Provide technical support for application packaging and software delivery issues.
  • Assist SCCM Operations teams with deployment failures and installation troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with Desktop Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, and Support teams to ensure successful application delivery.
  • Help automate packaging processes and improve deployment efficiency.
  • Participate in application vulnerability remediation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain packaging standards, documentation, knowledge base articles, and operational procedures.
  • Support ongoing initiatives related to Microsoft Intune adoption and endpoint modernization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in application packaging, software deployment, desktop engineering, or endpoint management.
  • Strong hands-on PowerShell scripting experience.
  • Experience creating, modifying, troubleshooting, and maintaining deployment scripts.
  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM/MECM for software packaging and deployment.
  • Ability to understand application installation configurations, dependencies, and operating system interactions.
  • Experience packaging and deploying applications within Windows enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PSAppDeploy Toolkit (PSADT).
  • Experience with Remo3.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune.
  • Experience with InstallShield.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server environments.
  • Experience with VBScript.
  • Exposure to MacOS packaging and deployment.
  • Experience working within large enterprise environments.
  • Experience using Jira and ServiceNow.
