Must be available to meet in person as needed at the SCET workspace on the UC Berkeley campus.\n \nApplication Deadline: September 4, 2026\n \nPosition Summary\n \nThe Application Workflow Developer will work with SCET Global to develop and automate a course assignment workflow for concurrent enrollment students.\n \nThe goal of the project is to create a system that can evaluate student course preferences alongside factors such as course capacity, prerequisites, and other predefined rules, then recommend appropriate course assignments. The workflow should also be able to adapt when circumstances change, reducing the need for staff to manually review and re-sort student assignments.\n \nThis is a hands-on project for a student interested in applying software development, automation, and AI-enabled workflows to a real administrative challenge within UC Berkeley.\n \nKey Responsibilities\n \nWorkflow Development and Automation\n\n Design and develop a workflow for assigning concurrent enrollment students to courses based on predefined criteria.\n Translate course assignment policies and staff requirements into clear system rules and logic.\n Automate portions of the assignment process to reduce repetitive manual work.\n Develop a system that can recalculate assignments when course availability, prerequisites, or other relevant conditions change.\n \nApplication and Assignment Logic\n\n Incorporate student-ranked course preferences into the assignment workflow.\n Account for course capacity, eligibility requirements, prerequisites, and other predefined rules.\n Develop logic for resolving conflicts when multiple students request courses with limited capacity.\n Ensure the workflow can respond appropriately when staff update course information or student eligibility.\n \nTesting and Refinement\n\n Test the workflow using different student, course, and capacity scenarios.\n Identify edge cases and potential issues in the assignment process.\n Work with SCET Global staff to refine assignment rules and workflow behavior.\n Help ensure the final system is reliable, understandable, and practical for staff use.\n \nDocumentation and Handoff\n\n Document the workflow, assignment logic, and relevant technical processes.\n Provide clear instructions so SCET staff can understand and operate the system.\n Support the handoff of the completed workflow to the SCET Global team.\n \nExample Use Case\n \nA student submits a form ranking their top five course preferences.
