Role Overview
Seeking an experienced Applications Architect to serve as a primary technical architect responsible for leading the remediation, modernization, and architectural direction of core enterprise financial applications. This position will focus on improving code quality, addressing security vulnerabilities, strengthening .NET infrastructure, and providing hands-on architectural guidance and support to development teams during major financial system transition initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Design and document end-to-end application architectures, solution patterns, architectural standards, and reference architectures within the Microsoft .NET ecosystem.
Evaluate, recommend, and document technology stacks, design guidelines, and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and pull request evaluations to ensure compliance with SOLID principles, clean architecture, and security standards using SonarQube code scanning tools.
Assess existing computing assets, analyze technical specifications and business rules, and lead modernization and refactoring approaches (including migrations from legacy JCL/COBOL/FOCUS to .NET).
Update and modernize legacy UI components, including AngularJS and Kendo UI implementations.
Support CI/CD pipeline integration, deployment strategies, data access optimization, and technical debt remediation without disrupting business operations.
Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and product owners to perform root cause analysis, diagnose issues, and align systems with upgraded statewide process models and interfaces.
Conduct knowledge transfer, onboarding, and technical mentoring for internal technical staff.

Required Skills & Experience
Minimum of 7 years of experience across multiple IT areas.
2 to 3 years of dedicated application architecture experience.
Advanced to expert-level knowledge of architecture, application systems design, and integration in Microsoft .NET.
Strong foundation in Clean Architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and event-driven architecture patterns.
Hands-on proficiency in API design and integration patterns, SQL Server, relational database design, data access optimization, and performance tuning.
Experience with Azure DevOps tools, App Insights, Key Vault, Blob Storage, and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with financial systems (such as ERPs), Entity Relationship Diagrams, and the SCRUM framework.
Proven ability to bridge technical and business communication across cross-functional teams.
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related field (work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis).

Additional Details
Position requires full-time, on-site presence 5 days per week in Tallahassee, FL. Telecommuting is not available.
Contract term runs from October 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, with potential extensions based on performance, need, and budget availability.
