Applications Architect (.NET, Azure & Enterprise Modernization)

The Applications Architect will design and document end-to-end enterprise application architectures using the Microsoft .NET ecosystem and provide technical leadership for application development, modernization, integration, and migration initiatives.
The architect will define solution patterns, establish architectural standards and reference architectures, evaluate technology stacks, guide development teams, and support modernization of legacy systems to modern .NET-based solutions. The role also requires architectural governance, technical-debt remediation, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and knowledge transfer.
Design and document end-to-end application architectures using Microsoft .NET.
Define architectural patterns including:
Monolithic
Modular Monolith
Microservices
Event-Driven Architecture
Establish architectural standards, reference architectures, and design guidelines.
Evaluate and recommend technology stacks and frameworks.
Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to development teams.
Review code, pull requests, and design artifacts for architectural compliance.
Ensure adherence to SOLID principles, Clean Architecture, and development best practices.
Support CI/CD pipeline integration and deployment strategies.
Assess existing enterprise applications and recommend modernization approaches.
Guide legacy JCL/COBOL/FOCUS to .NET migrations.
Identify and prioritize technical-debt remediation.
Develop refactoring strategies while minimizing disruption to business operations.
Develop and maintain architecture diagrams and technical documentation.
Create Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
Participate in architecture reviews and governance forums.
Mentor and support internal technical staff.
Analyze existing computing assets, technical specifications, and established business rules.
Perform root-cause analysis and assist with complex debugging and troubleshooting.
Guide remediation and upgrades of legacy applications.
Coordinate with Business Analysts, developers, and Product Owners.
Participate in code and design reviews for quality and performance.
Support remediation associated with the new statewide accounting system.
Perform knowledge transfer with technical staff.
