Our client designs and manufactures automated assembly equipment for their customers and they need an Application Engineer. They will teach you the automation part of the job but need good hands-on engineering skills and a desire to learn and work with customers. The position reports to V.P. of Technical Sales.

What you will be doing:
Perform a wide variety of technical assessments of customer and market requirements in support of sales and business development activities.
Conceptualize custom built machine applications, including CAD proposal sketches.
Review quotation requests and discuss design needs with potential customers.
Communicate with marketing and other engineering personnel to create the most appropriate design proposal.
Involve third party vendors and suppliers in the quoting process where necessary.
Travels to the customer’s site to assist in project or product development, working with specific engineering design specifications, objectives and standards. (5% to 10% travel)
Give sales presentations to customers using PowerPoint to sell your concept.
Obtains and prepares detailed estimates of time, quantities, labor and material costs required for work areas such as product design, testing, machine building, equipment installations and manufacturing processes.
Perform customer follow-up to answer proposal questions and assist in attempts to close the sale
What they are looking for:
BS in Engineering and 2+ years of engineering experience
You must have good, logical problem-solving skills and the desire to work with customers.You must be able to figure out how to build a solution and talk with stakeholders
Good 3D CAD design skills, preferably in SolidWorks
Project experience and working knowledge of manufacturing engineering processes is helpful
Any skills with welding, fixture design, robotics, automated assembly, material handling / conveyor systems, gauging, leak-testing, and machining would also be helpful
Experience with automatic assembly, or related factory automation and mechanical/electrical systems design, applications engineering is helpful
