Overview

D477 Applied Electronics Technologies (AET) Engineering has openings for experienced, highly motivated individuals to support the development, instrumentation, and testing of electrical and electronic systems. Engineers will apply their prior experience and subject matter expertise to the development and testing of shipboard systems and prototype systems in support of various qualification and development goals. Candidates will be required to fulfill the on-job responsibilities of problem resolution, design error correction, technical analysis, design integration, and development of technical work products.

Engineering work opportunities range from concept design through development (end-to-end design), hardware/software integration, test, delivery, and deployment of the system aboard nuclear submarines and shore-side locations. Engineering positions require self-management skills to coordinate and interface with shipyard testing, shipyard trades, material suppliers, other engineering organizations, Navy shipyards, Navy forces afloat, Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Strategic Systems Programs, and NAVSEA. Candidates may be required to travel to remote locations and Navy shipyards and will be expected to support weekends/backshifts on occasion.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate must be highly motivated and perform autonomously while handling several different tasks.

Strong oral and written communication skills. Must directly interface, engage and negotiate with stakeholders on a regular basis.

Ability to create detailed documents and test procedures for both internal and external work force.

Experience and proficiency with three or more of the following:

• Instrumentation equipment (O-scopes, Spectrum Analyzers, etc) • LabVIEW • Dspace • MATLAB • Data Physics • Simulink • ANSYS • JMAG • FLUX2D/3D • COMSOL • PLC Programming • and other data acquisition, simulation, or control systems

Experience working with power electronics, 3 phase AC high power systems, hydraulics, fluid systems, and pneumatic systems and their associated instrumentation and control methods.

Experience with sensors (strain gage, pressure sensor, flowmeters, thermistors, RTDs)

Shock and vibration testing

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor and/or Masters of Science degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Marine, Physics, Aeronautical, Systems, Biomedical or Robotics Engineering • 5+ years of post graduate professional engineering experience • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred:

• US Navy or other Military Branch and/or industrial or commercial experience involving the operation and maintenance of complex systems and/or electrical systems • Deck plate experience testing and/or troubleshooting electrical systems
