PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of the campus-based evaluation staff and the speech language pathologist, the clerk will provide reception and clerical assistance for the efficient operation of the campus special education department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification/Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Special Knowledge/ Skills:
- Proficiency in typing and word processing.
- Working knowledge of basic office procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and in a positive manner.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use personal computer and software for spreadsheets, databases, word processing and electronically invite/schedule meetings.
- Bilingual preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assist campus-based evaluation staff which includes the speech pathologist in office management duties.
- Assist in maintaining an efficient and positive work environment.
- Assist campus-based evaluation staff which includes the speech pathologist in maintaining federal, state and local regulations and timelines by monitoring reports generated from district software system.
- ARD Meeting responsibilities:
- Maintain monthly calendar for upcoming ARDs and staff meetings.
- Schedule ARD meetings for campus-based evaluation staff which includes the speech pathologist.
- Assist in preparing materials for all ARD meetings.
- Work collaboratively with campus-based evaluation staff which includes the speech pathologist to ensure the required/necessary participants are invited to ARD meetings.
- Scan, upload and mail ARD documents to teachers and parents updated 08.03.23.

- Maintain records, files, and other required documents on special education students.
- File and maintain documents in the audit folder and special education software system immediately after the ARD is completed and activated.
- Assist speech pathologist in preparing instructional materials as needed.
- Communicate to district office any requests for records.
- Interpret ARDs and phone calls, as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as determined by the campus-based evaluation staff, speech pathologist or principal.
