Apprentice Diesel Mechanic

Ten Ton Truck Center & Forklift Repair is looking for an Apprentice Diesel Mechanic to join our Buena Park, CA shop and develop hands-on skills working alongside experienced technicians. This is an opportunity for someone with mechanical aptitude who wants to build a career in diesel and heavy-duty equipment repair.

What You’ll Do

• Assist experienced technicians with inspections, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication, and fluid checks
• Help identify worn or damaged components and communicate findings to senior technicians
• Learn to properly use shop tools, equipment, and diagnostic technology
• Assist with repairs involving diesel engines, electrical systems, cooling systems, fuel systems, and related components
• Help document inspections, repairs, and parts used
• Assist with parts handling and inventory organization
• Keep workstations, tools, and shop areas clean and organized
• Follow company safety procedures and proper shop practices
• Participate in training and hands-on skill development
• Communicate with experienced technicians and management regarding assignments, progress, and questions

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in diesel and heavy-duty equipment
• Willingness to learn from experienced technicians and follow instructions
• Ability to work safely with tools and shop equipment
• Basic computer skills for work documentation
• Prior hands-on mechanical experience, vocational training, or automotive/diesel coursework is helpful but not required
• Valid California driver's license required
• Ability to work in a hands-on shop environment and safely perform the physical requirements of the position

Work Environment

This is a hands-on repair shop environment with exposure to vehicles and equipment, mechanical components, fumes, and moderate to high noise levels. The position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting tools and parts as part of normal shop work.
