Apprentice Fleet Systems Technician

  • Pay: $22.00/hr; might be eligible for an increase up to $25.00/hr after 90 days

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with installation of mechanical and electrical components on buses.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools (wrenches, drills, sockets, torque tools).
  • Follow work instructions, diagrams, and safety procedures to complete tasks correctly.
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks that keep production and service moving.
  • Support senior technicians with troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
  • Communicate status, blockers, and material needs to supervisors.
  • Stay flexible and help with an extended shift when daily production schedule is not met.
  • Cross-train in other production stations as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort with tools.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems (preferred, not required).
  • Able to lift or move parts up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing to learn, take direction, and focus on details and safety.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Practical experience from automotive, HVAC, carpentry, small engine repair, or related areas.
  • Vocational school coursework in mechanics, diesel technology, or automotive technology.
