Job Description:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations.
- Evaluate and manage orthopedic and hand surgery patients in clinic and/or hospital settings.
- Assist in the diagnosis and treatment of fractures, tendon injuries, nerve compression syndromes, arthritis, and other upper extremity conditions.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with orthopedic hand surgeons.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including wound assessments and follow-up visits.
- Order, interpret, and review diagnostic studies, laboratory results, and imaging.
- Perform procedures within the APRN scope of practice and organizational guidelines.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery expectations, rehabilitation, and injury prevention.
- Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, nursing teams, and other specialists.
- Document patient encounters accurately and maintain compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of orthopedic and hand surgery practices, procedures, and patient management.
- Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal and upper extremity conditions.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to interpret diagnostic tests, imaging studies, and laboratory results.
- Knowledge of preoperative and postoperative orthopedic patient care.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with orthopedic surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR and clinical documentation.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care aligned with AdventHealth's whole-person care philosophy.
