Aquatic Center Manager, Part Time (all year) - City of Columbus

The City of Columbus has a current job opening and is accepting applications for the position of a part-time Aquatic Center Manager (all year).

This is responsible administrative and supervisory work in planning, organizing, and directing the daily operations of the Columbus Aquatic Center while providing support to the Plunge operations during the summer season.

Work involves responsibility for the management and oversight of facility operations, staff supervision, customer service, maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance for the indoor aquatics center. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general direction of the Parks and Recreation Director and in accordance with city, state, and federal regulations. Supervision is exercised directly, or through subordinate supervisors, over skilled and semi-skilled employees. Work is reviewed through facility performance, compliance with governmental standards, and results obtained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Columbus Aquatic Center to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patrons and employees; including scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and timesheet review.
  • Provides administrative and guest service support; including facility reservations, rentals, and special use requests. Responds to patron questions, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Oversees pool maintenance activities and mechanical systems to ensure proper operation, water quality, and facility cleanliness, maintains facility standards, operating procedures, emergency action plans, and service expectations.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable city, state, federal, and insurance requirements related to aquatic facility operations. Maintains records related to water quality, maintenance activities, facility inspections, incidents, and operational reports.
  • Oversees admissions, memberships, cash handling procedures, and preparation of deposits; prepares and submits financial reports as required.

Qualifications

  • Training in supervisory and/or management skills, business management and/or related fields.

  • Must have considerable experience of a progressively more responsible nature regarding swimming pool operations, both indoor and outdoor facilities.

  • Within the initial 30 days of employment in the position, must possess and maintain the following certifications:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Waterpark, which includes CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Provider, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI), American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Nebraska Pool Operator

  • Thorough knowledge of public swimming pool operations, water quality management, and emergency action procedures.

  • Salary is $22.00 per hour
