JOB SUMMARY:

Conduct fish and aquatic wildlife field surveys. Managing shared university resources, gear, and equipment. Conducting regular data entry and database maintenance, analyzing data, drafting reports and assisting in preparation of manuscripts. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

60% - Essential - Collection of field data, as directed. May include collection, handling, and processing offish and wildlife according to standardized protocols. Renewing annual permits necessary to conduct fish and wildlife surveys, where needed.

20% - Essential - Maintaining, organizing, and managing gear, equipment, and vehicles that are used during field surveys. Recording and managing mileage sheets for vehicles. Sanitizing wetsuits, cleaning and organizing lab spaces, managing lab protocols, maintaining and calibrating sensitive equipment (flow meters, water quality, gps units, PIT tag readers and PIT tag arrays) used for field surveys.

20% - Essential - Regular data entry, quality control, and management of databases in Microsoft Access and Excel. Entering data into online databases in concordance with state and federal permit requirements. Assisting with data analysis in Program R and organization of spatial data in ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - High School or Equivalent - Work experience in a related health care setting or in a clinical or research laboratory setting; or 12 semester hours of academic training in biology and/or chemistry; or registration as a Certified Laboratory Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or an equivalent registry; or successful completion of a formal program of instruction for laboratory assistants at a hospital or academic institution.

Work Experience - 2+ years experience in pursuit of a bachelors degree in forestry, wildlife biology, ecology, or other natural resources-related field.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelors Degree - Forestry, wildlife biology, ecology, or other natural resources-related field.

Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000

Certifications - CPR & First Aid; Wildlife First Aid

Work Experience - 3+ years prior experience collecting and managing field data

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Anticipated Hourly Rate: $15.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidates previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemsons compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
